C'est Lass (2015)

This dance work is in response to autobiographic information shared with Celia Weiss Bambara about religion, family, fighting the good fight and staying kind and compassionate. It is a solo work about an Ivoirian man seeking to build his family, practice Islam and be kind in the world. It is also about the obstacles facing men in the Ivory Coast in the post-civil war climate.

Choreography: Celia Weiss Bambara
Dance: Lassana Kamagate
Musical Arrangement: Celia Weiss Bambara
Lighting Design: Sam Bapes
Length: 15 minutes

This work was begun as part of an experiment while working on a commissioned piece for Case Des Artes in Abidjan. Celia and Lassana continued the work, and the solo was in part financed by the US Embassy Cultural Affairs Division. It premiered at the CNAC in 2015.
